Artist: Me
Title: Draco gets a dunking
Characters: Draco and the giant squid
Rating: PG 13'ish for nekkid boy :)
Media used: Pencil on paper
Challenge: Yes, animal challenge
Warnings: Giant squid! Naked boy! Possible smutty overdrive if you have that kind of mind! :P
Notes/comments: The squid obviously turned into a giant octopus instead, as I was too lazy to look up references, and could only remember how an octopus looks ^_^' Actually inspired by the reply I got in the You are the secret lovechild of which two Harry Potter Characters? by astraynotion meme here - beware of possible squickiness at the thought ;D

SQUID! Yay! Yes, indeed, looks more octopus than squid. I think squid are pointer, and have a longer tentacle with a sort of diamond bit on the end. I think. And more leggies - I think.
But, other than that, really nice. I love all the little suckers, and Draco just going 'BIFF!'

Yeah - a squid actually has 10 arms, and two of them are longer than the others and have paddle-like leaf-shaped ends (As far as I recall). The real problem was trying to remember how the head part looks, and I just took the lazy way out and substituted an octopus. Probably noone would have noticed, if I'd just shut up about it, but there you go... *is a sucker for details*

I'm glad you liked it :)

This is awesome. Draco looks vaguely cherub-like, from Michaelangelo or something. Did you use a reference for him? I'm adoring his cute little toes too. I wish I could draw toes like that; mine are always stubby bumps.

That naughty squid, all up in his ass...you are a riot!

Nope - no reference for Draco. I thought about why I'd done him in an upright position afterwards - they are under water, so I could have drawn him upside-down for that matter - and I think it was because it made it easier to do without references :) Michelangelo is one of my art-idols though, so I'm very happy about the (alleged) similarity ^_^

I'm adoring his cute little toes too. I wish I could draw toes like that; mine are always stubby bumps.

I just think of them as very short fingers with the first knuckle (the one on the hand) missing - you could try the same. Adoring feet and anything with lots of little bones and/or sinews is probably a good help too ;D

Wahahaha - I'm glad you liked it XD

Beautiful.

I love the clear, strong lines here, they're so lovely. Are you considering colouring it at all? I can really imagine it done in quite an azure blue, quite subtle with alot of shading.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.

I won't be colouring anything digitally - unless someone is overcome with sudden generosity and gives me a tablet, and that's not very likely to happen in the near future... The drawing's done on rather thin drawing paper, so no watercolour, but I might try coloured pencils at some time (or not). It's possible I'll post it over at colourme_hp, then perhaps you could have a go with the azure blue and lots of shading :)

You kill me with your gorgeous realboy!Draco and the sneaky octo-squid with tentacles everywhere. Is lovely, and if you don't mind, I would love to have it on my sceensaver at home?

Yay for the Mac, it can do that with any image in my Pictures folder.

Go ahead and use it, as long as you don't remove my signature or use it commercially - I'm totally fine with it being your personal screensaver :)

I'm glad you liked it.

Octopi are the smartest invertibrates, and are one of the largest mullosks, wee! They learn by feeling and careful examination. If you have an octopus and put its food in a jar, they'll eventually learn how to unscrew the jar and get the food. AND, if you have octopus in tank A, and put a second tank (Tank B) with food in it adjacent to tank A, the octopus will learn to climb out of tank A and into tank B to get to its food.

</rant>

So good choice in the octopus, I've never heard of a squid being able to do all those things :D I suppose he's just curious as to why Draco is skinny dipping and had to check it out.

Yes, octopi are very clever, and also is the sea-animal (non-mammalian that is) who's eyes are most alike to those of a human, which means we can actually know more or less how the world looks to an octopus, and Draco obviously looks good ;)

I'm glad you liked it :)

I absolutely don't blame the squid if it doesn't let go. I would definately keep Draco like that in my room. ;-)

Uhm, well - yeah, but he'd be dead *swallows* I don't think he can actually breathe under water - he should have swallowed some Gillyweed before jumping in ;)

That's wonderful. I totally can't stop looking at it. I really like the way Draco and the squid are positioned and Draco’s hair, it really gives the art an underwater feel.

Thanks I'm glad you liked it :) I tried to make him look like he's kind of floating in the water, and the hair was part of the effect - I'm glad it worked out so well ^_^
